Piotr Kowalski, archi sculpteur

L’architecte et mathématicien Piotr Kowalski était également sculpteur. Né le 2 mars 1927 Lviv (alors en Pologne), il émigre aux pour y étudier au MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) de Cambridge. En 1958, il fonde une société consacrée la recherche architecturale et la sculpture. La galerie Downtown met en relief une partie de ce travail, avec les maquettes de son transformateur électrique EDF Fresnes (1960) ou du réaménagement de la Défense (1982-89). Ainsi que des pièces uniques en néon, ou encore certains de ses projets comme le jardin Paul Valéry Sète (1984). Une réflexion qui n’a jamais cessé de mêler science et poésie. D.Po. Photo DR
